My Life

Enjoying it

Well, I suppose things are back to normal now. I'm back into the SEO world, but focusing more on Social Networking than anything else. That's pretty fun as you never know what you'll run into on any of the big networks these days, heh heh. During the night, I'm back to my astronomy stuff since I decided NOT to sell my XT10 scope...just couldn't part with it and I'm glad I made that decision.

Events beyond my control

Well, it's been awhile since I last posted, so it's high time I bring things up to date right? Well, the last month has been a real doozy...to say the least. Just over a month ago, I got laid off and since then, it's been a real chore to chase some work down. I just about pulled the site down to save money, but it looks like I might be in better shape here in a few days....hopefully.

FZ6 Trip - North Carolina

North Carolina 2005

So I decided it was time for a trip up to North Carolina to see my friend of 5 years. Was I going to drive? Of course not; it was time for a motorcycle road trip! On top of that, I decided to extend my trip into a tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountains and hills thereabouts. What follows is a recollection of what happened on the trip, along with a few photos. I was still single at the time, so there was no 2up riding.

Long Trip

There's nothing better than a sunny, warm day and nothing to do but ride! This past Saturday, I made a nice long run around the coastal plains of North Carolina. Absolutely beautiful weather, some great roads, and nearly no traffic made for a good time! I'd rather run the twisties in the mountains, but this route was better than nothing.

Weather Turning Good Finally

Out RidingIt's about time! Our eastern NC weather is finally starting to break into a spring/summer-like mode, which means it's RIDING SEASON again! Last year, I didn't get to ride all that much, but this year, I plan to ride with Xi as much as we possibly can. We bought a trailer last year for the Rabbit, so that opens up longer distance travel for us on the FZ-6. I know some of the more hardcore out there would insist that we're not cool if we don't two-up all over the place, but on an FZ-6, two-up can get a bit uncomfortable after a few hours.

Does it make me a nerd?

Does it make me a nerd knowing that I got up today with great anticipation over the space shuttle's launch? With the sole exception of watching the Gatornationals on ESPN this afternoon, my television stayed on the NASA channel all day long, lol. Is it nerdier that I actually rushed out of the house today to buy some chips and salsa for the launch? Heh, oh well, who cares. I love the space program, no matter how underwhelming it is in comparison to accomplishments made DECADES ago. There is some explanation, I suppose, as I grew up in central Florida and was able to watch shots from our front porch. ;)

Enter Lifu

Lifu on stepsLifu on stepsOur "family" has only just begun, but we've already added a new member, Lifu! Lifu, which means "brings happiness" according to Xi, is an 8 week old Lab mix with patches of black and brown fur. We've talked about getting a dog for a long time, but never pulled the trigger...until yesterday. We decided to casually browse the local classifieds and came across someone advertising a litter of pups for free; we just had to go have a look, lol. Turns out that all of the pups were in wonderful shape and had a full Lab mother. There were 3 pups still available, 2 beautiful black pups and...Lifu, a cute pup dappled in brown and black patches. She immediately came up to us, so we promptly melted, ha ha.

One and One Make Two

Scott and Xi Goofing AroundScott and Xi Goofing AroundWe have done it! Today, Xi and I finally got married in a small ceremony with my mother and her fiance present. It's fantastic to have made it this far after so many trials and tribulations! Naturally, we plan to have a more formal arrangement later on, plus we'll be traveling to China sometime in the next year to perform a traditional ceremony there. I can't tell you how excited we are for our relationship...it feels fantastic!

So where do we go from here? That's the question that everyone asks isn't it? We have a few ideas, but like everyone else, we're largely winging it, lol. Whatever happens, it should be lots of fun!

Summer Update

Hi gang! Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but honestly, I've been so busy with household and business stuff that I've had no real "free" time to take care of things here on the site. Xi arrived last month and she's kept me busy, to say the very least, lol. So far, things have gone pretty well for us. We've had a few bumps here and there, but for the most part, things have been great! In the little over a month that Xi's been here, the house has undergone a complete makeover inside and out...furniture, plantings, etc. Well, stay tuned for further updates. We're getting married soon and then we'll be moving into a whole new range of government bureaucracy as we begin the "Adjustment of Status" process for Xi. I'm sure that's going to be exciting, heh. Oh well. Wish us luck!

The Day Draws Near

Xi and II met Xi way back in June of 2004 and as we near June of 2008, we are finally counting down the days until she steps off the airplane in Raleigh! It's taken the past 4 years to get to know each other, visit each other, and work through the morass of government procedures...but it's finally coming down to the wire. She flew through her final interview without any issues and received her visa back in March and has been spending the time since then working on moving preparations.
