So Chicago Lost - Deal with it

Whoopsie!Today it was announced that Rio won the opportunity to host the Olympics in 2016, beating out Chicago, Madrid, and Tokyo. Chicagoans, don't get your panties in a bunch, you probably lucked out by not hosting the Olympics. Chicago's rife with crime, corruption, and a budget deficit...trying to build for the Olympics would have only added to the mess. I read an article today detailing Chicago's failings with public works projects; I'm sure that c

Show me the Tupperware!

I had meant to keep my blog sort of up to date this week, but it's been a real bitch of a week so far. I've been working on a large PAYING client project that's required the creation of an enormous amount of original content. Luckily, I'm just about finished with the writing portion of the project, but the process has left me sort of burned out by the end of each day, which has made me seek the comfort of the couch and Directv. Tonight; however, there's nothing really on the tube, so here I am, listening to the latest edition of MacBreak Weekly.

Funny Shit

Unless you've been living under a rock, disconnected from the net, then you've probably heard about the new Microsoft Home Party campaign for the upcoming Windows 7 release. Taking a page from the 1970's Tupperware Parties (I remember my mother doing those), Microsoft is selecting a number of average people to host neighborhood parties to introduce Windows 7 to their guests. Yes, they are as ridiculous as they sound, but apparently, it's completely real.

Weekend Observations

Well, this weekend signaled the real start of the NFL season, the Italian Grand Prix, and some other things; there a few things I noticed. Jake Delhomme and the Panthers pretty much suck; guess the crappy pre-season they had pointed to the disaster we watched yesterday. Seems like they should've replaced Jake a few years back, but anyway. A little north of Charlotte, we have Chicago and the Bears.

All About the Music?

For the past few days, I've been driving around my wife's Beetle just for a change of pace. Her car is not equipped with Sirius satellite radio, so I've had to deal with normal radio or a CD. After years of Sirius, I'd forgotten just how bad normal radio can be with all of the commercials and "humorous" observations of the hosts (i.e. forced, fake humor). The local radio station here proudly claims that they're all about the music and that it plays music from a time when music mattered...they go over the top to remind you of this throughout the day.

DirecTV Drops Versus Due To Greed

Okay, so I'm slow on the uptake for this one, but I just found out that DirecTV was forced to remove the Versus channel due to a squabble with Comcast (which owns Versus). I'm an Indy Car fan and I'm naturally not happy about this because I love my DirecTV. That being said, so long Indy Car, I hope that in the future you hitch yourself to a channel that features more than rodeos and...hockey. I'll not be switching service just to see a channel I watch only when an Indy race comes on.
