Introducing A New Stablemate!
With the need to sell my FZ6 before getting an FJR, I figured my wife's request to go have a look at the FJR down at Ron Ayers in Greenville, NC last Friday was simply so she could see what I was constantly yammering about over the past few months. I was wrong...
Imagine the look of shock in my eyes when, after seeing the bike and browsing the starter bikes (she wants to learn to ride someday), she said, "Let's see about making a deal for the bike you want." What followed was an hour of my wife haggling with the salesman, ending with both of us signing a contract for a used 2007 FJR1300A with 14k miles on it and her saying, "Happy Birthday!" It was an unbelievable experience, lol. I wanted to ride it home right away; however, since I had no expectations of purchasing anything that day, I had no gear with me and had to wait until Saturday to pick it up...I barely slept that Friday night, lol.
Saturday was a chilly 35 degrees, but it didn't matter; my wife and I were at Ron Ayers' door at 9am sharp and, by 9:30, I was geared up and ready to roll down the road. Talk about an exhilarating ride...it was friggin fantastic despite the cold. Got home, de-geared, and drove my wife to the airport for her trip to San Francisco and then China, then rushed back home, geared up, and took the FJR for an extended session in 41 degree weather. I had a blast tearing around the countryside and I repeated it all again on Sunday...even with some rain. The FJR is a fantastic machine and I hope that this marks a long love affair marked by many miles. :D
In the future, I'll get a page up describing all the mods that will surely come to my FJR. My Feejer already has some farkles from the original owner, a retired trooper (who must've babied this spotless bike):
- V-Stream Windscreen
- BrakeAway Cruise Control
- Lowered Suspension (1" via dogbones)
- Motovation Frame Sliders
- Grip Puppies
Tune in later as I add more information and start keeping track of some of the trips I plan to take on her; just visit my dedicated FJR page!
Now to get the FZ6 sold...I need the garage space!
