Show me the Tupperware!
I had meant to keep my blog sort of up to date this week, but it's been a real bitch of a week so far. I've been working on a large PAYING client project that's required the creation of an enormous amount of original content. Luckily, I'm just about finished with the writing portion of the project, but the process has left me sort of burned out by the end of each day, which has made me seek the comfort of the couch and Directv. Tonight; however, there's nothing really on the tube, so here I am, listening to the latest edition of MacBreak Weekly.
Funny Shit
Unless you've been living under a rock, disconnected from the net, then you've probably heard about the new Microsoft Home Party campaign for the upcoming Windows 7 release. Taking a page from the 1970's Tupperware Parties (I remember my mother doing those), Microsoft is selecting a number of average people to host neighborhood parties to introduce Windows 7 to their guests. Yes, they are as ridiculous as they sound, but apparently, it's completely real.
Personally, I couldn't imagine a stupider premise for a party, but whatever. I'm not buying Windows 7 anyway since I love my Mac (yes, I did try out the Win 7 beta and wasn't impressed) and I bet a large number of Win XP owners who love their current machines won't either thanks to the huge wall to climb over in order to upgrade...a process that's quite frankly beyond a lot of average users. Anyway, there are a number of Microsoft-produced YouTube videos showing how to host a Windows 7 party. They're mostly politically correct (they're missing a few races) and, for the most part, funny to watch due to their Brady Bunch quality of dialogue. But even more funny is the "remix" done by Caleb Sasser, in which he bleeps out any of the references to Windows. The end result is a video that could very easily be taken in a completely different, more adult context:
I love it!
On A Mission
It's kind of funny, but it looks like I might actually convince my office to start going all Mac and drop the PC's we have. I don't use the one on my office desk, in fact, I took the time to move it to a side table where it's not in the way. Somehow, I've managed to do EVERYTHING in the office that a PC can do. Imagine that, lol. Anyway, time will tell. Apparently, we have to spend some money on equipment before the end of the year, so perhaps my MacBook will be joined by a bigger brother. I think it would be a cost effective move since the software we'd need to use is either free or very low cost when compared to the PC equivalent. We'll see...
