All About the Music?
For the past few days, I've been driving around my wife's Beetle just for a change of pace. Her car is not equipped with Sirius satellite radio, so I've had to deal with normal radio or a CD. After years of Sirius, I'd forgotten just how bad normal radio can be with all of the commercials and "humorous" observations of the hosts (i.e. forced, fake humor). The local radio station here proudly claims that they're all about the music and that it plays music from a time when music mattered...they go over the top to remind you of this throughout the day. Now I get the part about music from a time when music mattered, it's classic rock and I think today's mishmash of garbage doesn't hold a candle to the classics we grew up with.
The problem lies with the claim that they are "all about the music". If they were so dedicated to the music they're playing, they wouldn't completely butcher Pink Floyd's song "Money" and garble the line that says "Don't give me that do goody good bullshit." Aren't we over such repressive, childish things these days....c'mon, it's a CLASSIC song that's been played millions of times unedited across the country. There's far worse things in this world. Just sayin'.
Driving my own car today, back to the sonic goodness of satellite radio.
